McPartland Retains Edgewater Mayoralty With Nearly 80% Of Vote

EDGEWATER, N.J. -- Edgewater Democratic Mayor Michael McPartland -- who never held public office before being appointed to the post in January -- held onto the position on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Bergen County Board of Elections.

McPartland, the founder of the Edgewater Wrestling Association, and the son of a 30-year borough police department veteran, got 595 votes -- 78.5%.

Republican challenger Bart Talamini received 158 votes -- 21%.

McPartland was appointed mayor i Janunary after James Delaney resigned.
